Micro BH Completed!
~December 25, 2006~
After two full days of working on the micro BH . . . it's finished! I admit I was very apprehensive about building this house, but in the end it was fun and well worth the effort.
The hardest part of the whole project was painting and gluing all the teeny tiny pieces . . . thank goodness for tweezers and instructions!
I started by gluing together the interior walls and painting the walls and floors. I'm SO glad I did this because there is no way to get in there once the house is together. Then I painted the window pieces and exterior walls and glued the windows to the exterior walls and then glued the walls, in sequence, to the structure of the house. Little bit, by little bit, it went together.
Then came the mansard roof and the curved windows . . . man what a lot of work those tiny windows were! I didn't paint the curved portions of the windows because to me they look like aged copper, which is a really cool look.
I installed the porch roof, trim and staircase next and added the dentil molding to the undersides of the roofs.
I still have a little bit of detail painting to do on the mansard roof . . . I want to paint C strokes to make it look like there are actual shingles on there and then I'd say this project is a 'wrap'!
The house in the snowglobe.
