The 'Willowcrest' ~ Start Date 12/29/2006
I received my 'Willowcrest' on November 4, 2005. For you enquiring minds . . . that's just over a year ago . . . my how time flies! I ordered it from 'Tracy' and was I ever excited when the box came!
Today I cleared away space in the kitchen . . . that's where I like to work because the sun comes in so nicely through the windows. I was going to work in the basement and save myself clean up every night, but this is going to be a very long process, so who wants to be in the basement? Oh, and I also ordered lighting, wallpaper and flooring . . . I'm so excited I could burst (maybe I shouldn't have eaten that last chocolate chip cookie?!!)
I brought the box down from the closet upstairs (with it happy dancing all the way) and opened it. Man, talk about a lot of wood! I sorted the sheets, read the instructions and started in on it.
Attaching the first floor to the front wall was no easy task with all the tabs and slots . . . I had to call in reinforcements . . . BRIAN!!! With that together I was able to proceed with the porch foundation and smaller interior walls. Then came the second floor . . . again requiring reinforcements. With that together and glued and clamped (so to speak) I left it to dry.
I then proceeded to work on the first floor staircase. What a lot of pieces spread over a lot of wood sheeting. This is where the fingers started nagging me . . . but I perserveered and got the staircase together before calling it a night. I'm pooped and a good night's sleep is in order to be rested up for tomorrow's marathon! I also need to sleep on that second floor staircase . . . do I need a staircase or do I need a bigger bathroom?
This might be a good place to insert some words of wisdom (from two wise ladies, Nutti and Jenny). DO NOT install the first floor staircase or outer wall until after you have decorated this area first!
