Gittin 'r done

This morning I worked on the roof and the front wall of the roost. I didn't take any pictures of my progress. All that was done was a heart and some tulips using some one stroke techniques. Tomorrow or maybe even tonight I will get the pieces finished. I am not very happy with the heart, but I don't want to start over. I do need to start practice lettering.

Did I mention...

...that I hadn't painted like this for years? Did I also mention that I have been practicing? I got the roof and front part of the roost painted and stained. While that was drying I started the decorative painting on the two side pieces. On the left hand piece I had trouble controlling the brush strokes. They are thicker and more elongated. Today was my kids' last day of school. Hopefully I can still take the time to work on my projects at night.

Olde Crow Inn- The Beginning- Robin's Roost

I started my Robin's Roost a few weeks ago. I really liked the idea of doing a one stroke folk art painting design. So far I have all of the piece popped out and Primed. Some have their base coat. The inside is black and the outside is antique white with burnt sienna. I finally found a size 2 Liner brush. I have been practicing my stoke technique as I have not done this kind of painting in years. The front and the roof still need base coating and staining. After that I will start on the

Its Finished!

I finally finished the Laurel and Primrose. To fix the paper that had been torn off. I tried to fill it in with paint. It really shows up in the photos. I am giving this house to my sister's friend little girls with some of the extra furniture that I have collected. I'm not giving the patio furniture away. Looking around my house I really don't have a place to display the house without starting a continual remodel. Well, I am off to finish the other projects I have got

In the home stretch

I have gotten a lot done on the Laurel. It is almost done. I am think that I need one more Saturday to myself to get it all done. I did get an offer from someone at Ella's preschool to buy the house, but then she disappeared. After inquiring to the persons where abouts it became apparent that this person does and says things like this quite a bit. Just means I get to keep it. I don't have any pics yet, but that is because I would like to have all the construction done.

Taking a break from routine

I seem to have fallen into a routine of "getting all the other stuff done". I lead a very full life. I have a great family. We have our ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. Having a large family means a lot of laundry, cooking and cleaning. Not to mention 'mom's taxi service'. I took the time this weekend to work on my Laurel. I ignored the house and it shows. lol Besides Battlestar Galactica is over till the next season (whenever SciFi decides when that is) so my Sunday night

Bathroom Horrors

I was able to get some more crown moulding to finish up the bathroom. ( I have enough to do the Kitchen, too) So I got the moulding cut and painted. Got it glued in and taped up. When it was dry I took the tape off and the paper ripped. I got to thinking that I may not have sealed the paper in this room. I really don't want to repaper the room now that all the trim is in. I am hoping I can find some nice art work that will match the paper to cover the blemishes. I have again

New porch post

The last couple of days have been busy with family. I did get the new porch posts painted and installed. I also got the bathroom window trim in. I used artist water color tape to hold the trim in place. Artist tape is a very low tack tape. Its used with watercolors. When I pulled it off it pulled part of the wall paper with it in two place. I am not sure if I kept the scrap from this scrapbook paper. I will have to go thru my paper stash to see. I will think of so

Finally Motivated.

12-9 I finally got a little movtivation to get to working on my house. Last night I shingled both the front and back of the primrose addition. I need to cap the ridge and paint. Right now I have the glue sitting in its holder upside down so I don't have to shake the bottle. 12-10 Yesterday, didn't go so well, for the roof part. My brilliant idea for a roof cap took forever to dry. What I did was soak some shingles in warm water to get them more pliable. Then I bent them over the to

A little bit of progress

I started the shingles on the front of the Primrose attachment. I also painted the interior window trim. I took pictures; I will post them later. I must have thrown away the color I wanted to use for the trim. I went through all of my craft stuff and threw or gave away a lot of stuff. The color I used doesn't match the color on the window inserts I made. I think I may paint it all white for this room. It is going to be really fun repainting the inserts that were painted before they were glued in

Quilt

I just finished my third doll house quilt. My first two were just expirments. This one is going to go into the Laurel Masterbedroom. I put the quilt on the scanner bed to scan rather than taking a photo. The backing fabric is a cream and green check. The center design is machine embroidered by my mom.

Staining

While I was waiting for my mom to come over I got the vaulted roof stained. The only thing is that I should have stained the wood before I started gluing it on. Oh, well! I think it turned out nice anyway.

Unbuilding

Today I got the Arrow house taken apart by soaking in a tub of hot water and vinegar. It took two hours. Some of the pieces that came off took some of the wood with it. I think I will let it dry overnight. After taking the house apart, I decided that I am going to replace windows, trim, door and the interior stairs. Most of the plywood pieces soaked apart in the bath. These parts will be thrown away. Today, I googled homemade paperclay. This searc

The Beginning

I took a ZicamFlu medicated spoon. NightQuil might be the "fall on the kitchen floor and I can't get up" medicine, but this stuff is "You better take it lying down cause you're not going to get up" medicine. This entry will be really quick, sorry for any typo's. While working on the Laurel, I thought it would be good to have a second house going. The Arrow dollhouse that I picked up at the local thrift store has recentley said "Brownstone". So tonight I began taking off the roof.

Vaulted Ceiling

I finally decided to start my blog. Winter is on it way. For me it means more time on my hands. Hopefully to work on all of my hobbies. Today, after I scraped off the glue mishap I proceed to glue on the front section of the Primrose section of my first house. I then began to trim in out with quarter round and 1/32"x 1/4" strip wood. I wanted to get it stained today, but It looks like rain. I do have a few more pieces of strip wood to put in and then I can stain. Maybe while my kids are at schoo
