crazy4minis
I have a dollhouse I got at a garage sale for $3 which is exactly like one I had as a child. I am trying to find out what company made the house as there is no name anywhere on it. It would be from the mid to late 60's, maybe early 70's. Thank you, Susan Edited March 22, 2007 by crazy4minis
kokkie
Hi Susan, is it made of what we call "tin" like a sort of iron?
newt
dunno .... was the house new when you got it when you were a child? i'm asking b/c the T. Cohn houses look somewhat like this one but they're too early, i think. Maybe Today's Kids? there's one of theirs in an eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/TODAYS-KIDS-METAL-TIN-...bayphotohosting
Nameless1
That's some form of board rather than tin, isn't it? It's similar to the Brumberger "Decorator" but not the same house. http://www.barbigirl.com/brumberger.htm edited to add: Newtomini's guess of Today's Kids is very good, by the way, since that's the later name of Wolverine, who started making tin litho houses in 1968. Nameless1
Okay -- a little closer -- it was on the market in 1967 as the Deluxe Split Level, though it sure looks colonial to me. If you look at the ad in this eBay listing, the middle bottom house is your house, but I cannot read any of the text to see what it is: the house ad! kokkie
Could it be from OKWA, that is the closest I could find!
Nameless1
FOUND IT! My copy of Dian Zillner's American Dollhouses and Furniture just arrived, and your house is on page 210, in all its pink-and-aqua glory. It's made of masonite. She's not certain but thinks the maker might be T. Cohn; apparently T. Cohn did make a hardboard house in the 1960s.

Nameless1
But wait -- that book was wrong! The maker is a company called Woodmaster. The house was originally sold furnished, btw. It's on p. 116 of Dian Zillner's Dollhouse and Furniture Advertising.
