Mini Man

True to his ancient heritage, Louis the Leprechaun lives a solitary life deep within the North Woods of Maine. He's never seen by human eyes, because his home is well-hidden within a tree trunk he claimed many centuries ago. Busily making shoes, carving blackthorn into shillelaghs and most importantly, guarding his Pot o' Gold, he happily passes the time for 358 days a year. Early in the month of March however (in fact, it's always about one week before St Patrick's Day), he begins to get the most intense craving for corned beef & cabbage. Oh, at first he tries to deny this overwhelming desire, but alas, he never can and succumbing to this urge, he heads into the Village of Eoghaill, pulling a wagon laden with the fruits of his yearlong labors. After feasting on the object of he cravings at the Hibernian Cafe, he heads to his tiny store, Shamrocks and Shillelaghs. Once there, the first thing Louis will do is to hide his Pot O' Gold out back in the old Outhouse. (Strange as it may seem, people don't seem to notice that it perpetually has an "out of Order" sign on the door!)With the gold safely tucked away he busies himself stocking the shelves, and setting up the heart-shaped arbor at the front door, with his many plants and lush produce. Once everything is just so, Louis opens the doors and for that one magical week in March, everybody's happy. The Townfolk are happy; they can buy the finest items offered for miles around, and Louis is happy because he can indulge in his favorite meal as often as he pleases. Nothing lasts forever however, and as is his usual custom, the day after St Patty's Day, Shamrocks & Shillelaghs ceases to be. As if by magic, the store is locked-up tight, windows boarded up, shelves are barren, and the Outhouse is gone. Louis has headed back to his tree trunk in the deep woods, to resume his solitary life. Until early March next year...
