That's a good idea. Otherwise, the edges are kind of rough? This will make it look really "finished".

Yes it will give it a nice finished look - I do the same on the roof edges - I actually double them one piece on the bottom edge and another on the edge looks real nice.

I use 1/16 for this you can cut it with an exacto and straight edge easily - Apply glue to the edge tape on the piece once dry untape and sand.
