Which is better? I have already decided dark anyways, so how can I cover my already glued floors?

Can you put thinned paint or stain over the lighter boards to get the darker effect you want?

....Its too late, I ripped them out....LOL and regret it slightly, because I think I would have gotten the look I wanted had I just sanded and painted..., but too late now! :/
