In need of advice....

How do I:

1) extend the wire safely without risk of the house going up in flames like Pheobe Buffay's (circa TV show Friends)?

2) attach a 1:24 plug to the end of wire?

3) make sure that there aren't any potential problems with compatibility of lightposts with my transformer & plug outlet
