The "carpet" is perhaps suede, though it seems a bit furrier than suede. It is surely some sort of upholstery fabric that I found in Walmart's scrap bin. Had the same sort of color issue with the wallpaper printing out pinkish instead of the yellow-beige that it is supposed to be, but it works for me.
