MINIJEAN Picture 3

Mini Man

I made several things from scratch: the postcards and their display stand; the "coffee-table" books in the white stand in the "lobby"; the grandfather clock in the lobby; the handicap bar and sink in the bathroom (unfortunately not visible in the picture); and -- all the lights! I made the wagon-wheel chandelier using the battery-pack lights from CherryTree.com, and wagon wheels which I found at another mini-site. I had to replace the original wood roof with foamcore, so I could dig a trench to hide the wires, which run from one room into the other, and then up to the roof where the battery pack is covered with shingles. I think the lights in the "office" were designed as Christmas tree ornaments; I've had them for awhile, waiting for a use for them. And, obviously, I closed in the jog in the main building and made it into a bathroom.

Good thinking adding a map on the office wall - very authentic touch! The man looks like he's greeting an old friend ... made me think he's been coming to the retreat for many years, and has just arrived after a long - maybe gruelling - drive. "Hey, I made it again this year!", he says with a grin. Office lady says, "Grab a seat, Henry - would you like a hot cuppa? I was expecting to see you about now!" :D
