009 Pierce - Walls going up

dickpatt

Getting all these pieces to line up and fit is really a lot harder than I imagined it would be. You can't just pick a piece, line it up and glue it in. You have to be sure all of the pieces fit with all of the others so it becomes a giant jigsaw puzzle and masking tape nightmare. :o But that's what makes this all so much fun, right? :p

Notes and afterthoughts:

Now two months into the build, I am having some regrets for not being even more particular about alignment and registration between the floors. I thought I was being very exact in what I was doing. What seemed to be "close enough for government work" on the first floor at that time is now amplified when pulling the walls together around the second and third floors. Those little registration problems with the slots and tabs result in lots of problems later if you don't eliminate them in the very beginning. Virtually all of the slots required opening up a bit and as for the coresponding tabs, mostly all of them needed pruning down some too. Making sure all the slots in the walls for the floors line up at the exact same height is also equally as important.
