007 Pierce - Gluing up the foundation walls to the base.

dickpatt

I taped all the foundation walls together all the while fine tuning the fit with the foundation base and first floor. When all were fitting together reasonably well and taped securely, I took off the first floor piece and glued all the horizontal joints between the foundation wall and base. After this glue is dry, the vertical joints between the foundation wall parts will be glued together and the first floor will be glued and taped down to the foundation wall. I'm waiting for the glue to set now.

I started out building on my table top covered with cardboard, but the surface was too soft and mushy to make a stable foundation so I'm back to building on the hard plywood surface again. I'll save the cardboard for "painting time".

Notes and afterthoughts:

Looking back over these photos and notes, I would probably have started out by turning the first floor section upsidedown and then assembled the foundation parts over the floor boards. There would have been less flopping around of the taped up foundation sections by having a more stable "base" to attach them to until the glue was dry.
