Deb G 14 Posted September 16, 2009 What tool did you use to "comb" the thatch shingles with? If you don't mind sharing?I don't mind at all. It's just a clay tool that looks something like a tiny spatula. I made each line with the edge of the tool, one at a time. I start with the "edges" of the shingles to define each one, then make lighter strokes repeatedly over each shingle to make the different patterns. There may be an easier way, but I haven't found it. Gives the shingles each a unique pattern. Time consuming as all get out, though! Quote Link to comment
ABQ Minis 1 Posted September 16, 2009 Thanks so much! I have that tool so I will try it! There is also a clay tool that is a wire brush that I have used to get the same sort of effect but I like yours better! Yes, it's very time consuming! LOL! But anything worth doing, is worth doing right! Your house is absolutely gorgeous and you have something that is to be very very proud of! I hope you have a chance to enter it into some sort of competition! I have seen houses that have been made by "artisans" that don't come close to your house! Inside or out! Of course, I haven't seen it in person and pictures do hide a lot of flaws! LOL! I know from personal experiance! But I don't think you can hide that many flaws with the amount and quailty of the pictures you have taken! If you ever decide to sell it, let me know! Quote Link to comment

I would love to find somewhere to exhibit my house, but there doesn't seem to be anything in my area. Maybe someday. And if I ever get it finished to my satisfaction, I may sell it to make room for my second house! I would certainly put a note on the forum. Quote Link to comment
