Wolfie, the stonework is marvelous! How did you apply the spackle-- just brush it over the whole thing?-- but then how did you get the stones colored so nicely... [waiting with bated breath, because will try technique on own carton-stones!]

I actually put globs of stucco on my hands - not spackle - stucco....and rub it all over the stones (egg carton) while pushing the stucco into the areas between the stones. Before it dries, I take a damp sponge and just wipe the whole thing down. Some of the stones will have areas of stucco on them which is good as it provides the bumpiness of real stone. More pictures to be put up today!

As for painting.....when all is dry, I dry brush the paint here and there, not covering the entire stones, allowing some of the wonderful gray to show through....there are three colors of paint on this castle. Lichen Grey for the base, some April Showers gray for the mid....and of course very dry brushed black!

I have now finished stoning the inside of the outside wall of the staircase! Now to paint it, but thought you would like to see that wall as it looks while it is drying!
