Chinese Concubine returning to China

Wolfie

this is a custom doll that I have done for a man in China. This doll left Seeley Lake today to fly to China to her new home - inside a temple there. I am very proud of this doll. All of the fabrics her clothing is made from came from China and now it is going back, but in a new guise!

Those are beautiful Wolfie. I hadn't had a chance to look at your dolls until now. I wish I could get interested in doing them, but no matter how many times I've tried, I just can't get into it.

I bought some beautiful pattern books from England about thirty years ago, and cut them out of cloth, but that's as far as I got with it.

I guess I am just better with wood, beads and Fimo than I am with dolls, so it's great to have people like you who can make the things we can't!

I especially like the Elizabethan looking girl in the red and gold dress. She's gorgeous!

Wolfie, I love your dolls. The Anne Boleyn doll is terrific! I am interested in Tudor history so she's special. Have you ever seen the Noyes Collection of Portrait Dolls at the Smithsonian? I have photos of the Henry VIII and his wives dolls if that would interest you. The artist, Dorothy Heizer (from memory, I will double check), used wire and batting armatures and cloth over that. Mrs. Noyes commissioned a large number of dolls from all historical periods, and Mrs. Heizer made them all, from portraits where available.
