Yay hinges!
I love it when a plan comes together. For the washer lid I decided to use single corrugated cardboard, because that stuff makes for a relatively strong hinge all on its own when you cut it right. I then reinforced it with a small piece of blue painters tape, trimmed the edges to make opening and shutting the lid easier, then glued the lid to the rest of the washer.
For the dryer door I cut out three circles of cardboard, two single ply and another of corrugated. Two smaller circles were then cut out from each circle, then a small piece of clear plastic was sandwiched between the corrugated and one of the single ply layers. I again used blue painters tape for the hinge, and to reinforce it I glued the final singly ply circle over that side of the door. To reinforce the hinge on the inside of the drum and hide the tape, I took another toilet paper tube, trimmed it to the right length, then cut a small sliver out of it and glued the cut ends back together. After that was dry, I slipped it inside the dryer drum, and the friction is preventing the tape from coming loose. It's tight enough that I think that even if the tape loses sticky over time it will still be in place.
