Chugging along with 1st flr & staircase...

rbytsdy

So I have the boards laid for the 1st floor main room; they have been sitting under books for a while. I need to do some touchup and then spray-finish 'em. I have been fiddling with the staircase for quite a while, priming and painting and glossing and detailing. The pictures are scenes from Beatrix Potter's "The Tailor of Gloucestor" which you can find online here. The wallpaper is what I plan to use in the main room, and is from Jennifer's printables. The frames are made from cherry-stained balsa. I need to spray down the detailing with matte finish or something. I have a ribbon that I want to use as a stair-runner, but I need to get some brass-colored paint to make stair rods first. The ribbon is a rich red and will make for a very busy staircase but this is a Victorian-type house so that excuses all excess. ;)

:thumb: Your picture pulled up on the random images. I am rehabbing a nearly completed Pierce and have been contemplating the stairway. Your treatment is similar to what I have envisioned. I was thinking of going with white with a stained rail, a tapestry stair runner and wainscot panelling or gothic tracery stencils around the base. I went to the hobby shop to pick up some "lumber" but they were out of the type I wanted.

My Pierce is missing some roof pieces, the porch, a door, the tower roof, all trim and the bay in the dining room. I have my work cut out for me (or I will once I get a copy of the intructions!)

I'm interested to see what others have done, because sometimes it presents new ideas (or shows an example of something you don't want to do, or to improve upon). I'm sure I'll spend more time perusing your pix.
