I finally got around to painting the kitchen cabinets and countertops this evening.  I am not the best painter, but maybe the sanding in between coats will help.  The bases are Delta Ceramcoat Oyster White (which is more cream), the countertops are black, and the top of the island is a brown stain that I can't remember right now.  :0/  This house is allegedly for my granddaughter, but my daughter has been giving me a significant amount of "creative input".
