making block 2

This is exactly what I am trying to figure out how to do with my half scale castle I want to make.  what material are you using for your blocks??? 
It looks very good!

I am working in 1/6 scale but feel it will work the same in 1:12 scale, and maybe it would be alright for your scale not sure, I do not use grout at all I paint in my background board the color I want my grout to be. I am using picture frame ''mounting board ''sorry I said mat board in my post. I had always wanted to try it and so when I saw Robin Carys stone cottage I HAD to try it,  but didn't like cutting up individual egg cartons and tying to get uniform pieces so the mounting board and the  mat board cutter together are great! Robin used the mounting board if I remember correctly.
