Sorry about the blurry pic this one is better, Red wing backs fit in nicely, I am not satisfied with the bottom newel post, the newel post on the Highclere staircase photos is either 6 or eight sided, we made one early on but I didn't care for it, plus I new it would need a special cap. but going to try something again.

What dimensions are you using for the bottom newel posts?

1.5 wide, 7 3/4 tall with out the newel cap and up to 8 3/4 with newel cap.

This will look so good when the walls go up!

Thank you, I actually have been going back and forth trying combine the fortification of the walls with beauty, balance and also support for ceiling fixtures. its slowing me down a bit.
