The Fairfield was the first house I wanted to try building when I got bitten by the bug a couple of years ago. In a round-a-bout way, it will be the first house I actually do build because my other San fran kit bash is still waiting for me to finish cutting out the walls, and with all the rain in Oregon it will probably be summer before I get to that. I live near the Oregon coast and I love visiting the little seaside towns, particularly places like Manzanita or Astoria, where I can get away from the hustle of the city and just relax. I envision this house as a seaside retreat overlooking the rocky coastline and stormy ocean waters. This is a place for writers and artists to get away, leave the electronics behind and spend a month in peace and quiet with the waves against the shoreline below. Houses on the coast here in the Pacific NW take quite a beating from the salty air, so this house will have some wear on it, but she's still kept up a bit by someone who loves her. I'm thinking of a simple, country Victorian interior that still has some touches of old grandeur here and there. My goal with the house is to make as much as possible from scratch, including furniture if I can. I'll also be adding lights! I've got so many ideas for this project and I can't wait to see them come to life!
