3/29/06, front bay windows & curtains & exterior
I finished painting the interior trim for the front bay windows white and made the curtains. I installed the acetate inserts
and then installed the windows in the bay.
I had some 2"+ wide whitish trimming lace with an alternating pattern of roses & leaves and I cut 1/8" dowel into two sections per window the length of the interior width of the interior window trim and painted the pieces lightly with gold glittery nail enamel.
I cut the lace into four pieces about 1" longer than the height of the trim. I cut two pieces beginning & ending with the leaf motif for the side bay windows, which are narrower than the front bay windows, and the pieces of lace I cut for those windows were rose-to-rose.
I turned under and basted the cut ends and rolled them around the dowels and hemmed them, pausing partway to glue one edge of the hem to the dowel so it wouldn't come off; and when I finished hemming (an gathering) the panel I glued the other end and spread the gathers evenly before I glued the curtains to their windows. I let the scalloped edge of each side window curtain meet the scalloped edge of the adjacent front window curtain.
Next I painted the exterior window trim pieces green to match the rest of the trim, and when it was dry I installed it.
Next I R&P the roof pieces and primed and painted the undersides white.
Next I cut (and pieced as necessary) the corrugated cardboard to cover the roof pieces.
The next step is to paint the corrugated cardboard silvery and assemble the roof pieces.
