Stairs, stairs and more stairs...oh and people!
Well.....not much to say really. I have spent days upon days preparing my staircase. The white parts have been spackled, primed, sanded oodles of times and painted. Oh, and I added in detail on the sides which I was quite pleased with. However when it came to putting the stairs together it's been a whole other story. I now know that whether I can understand them or not, I must TRY to read the instructions before doing ANYTHING! I do wish Greenleaf put instructions together with a heap of diagrams....I'm not good with written instructions - generally I look at pictures in order to know how to do things. So anyway, I have tried putting the staircase together several times now. Each time carefully lined up, wood-glued and held in place with tape. Finally after throwing my hands up in despair, my engineer hubby came home and helped fix it....but then let me go away and glue it again. Ah well......I'm not pulling it apart again. there is now a gap down one side of the first landing but it can stay there. I've read the instructions tonight and labelled all the risers and treads. I've glued a couple more bits and tomorrow I'll finish putting it together.....hopefully. Mean while I also put my doll kits together. I felt really happy with the paint job on them. I assembled them and then felt the need to clothe them - if only basically until I could find something better. The pants and skirt are okay, but Val's blouse was horrible material to work with and consequently looks pretty ghastly. Then I tried wigging.....a few times. Norman's hair is okay.....a bit moth eaten looking on one side and the back - but from the front it looks okay. Vals.....well, I guess it's hair. If anyone can point me to a good small wig seller that would be fantastic! Meanwhile it's off to bed for me to dream about building stairs.....
