Working my way up.
I guess it's been a couple more weeks! Nasty colds and work... I got the towel rack installed in the bathroom:
Still thinking about how to treat the lower wall there. I did some flooring work for the bedroom; here it is in dry fit:
I decided to leave it as is instead of staining it so that it would not clash with the furniture. I brushed on a sealer and glued the floor in place; it is not as shiny and smooth as I would like so I am going to brush on another coat in situ. Here I am working on the 3rd floor foyer flooring, and a dry fit:
The stain is drying on it now, and I'll install it after sealing. I left room for the rest of the bannisters. This was the first time I had tried staining after gluing the floor together; up to now, I had stained all the sticks and then glued them to the template, but I am pretty pleased with how this turned out.
I don't think I posted this pic of the shades in place- one of my favorite things!
Edit: the frames are some metal frames that I found at Michael's-- I guess they're for scrapbooking and such, but they're perfect for portraits, and just what I had been wanting... They're made by "Life's Journey - Metal Art by K&CO" and come in a pack of six varied.
And some ceiling work; all the ceiling treatment is in now:
I was really stuck on how to treat these ceilings, but I found some embossed paper at Michael's which worked pretty well. I found some corrugated gold-colored paper at the local art shop which I used for the 3rd floor foyer ceiling; rather last minute of me, but I had decided to put a hanging light there after calculating that I have enough outlet space... I had to rip out my make-shift floor for the tower room because I had cut out a corner to accommodate for a hanging ladder or something, and had put the floor backwards-- I repositioned it so that it is toward the front of the house now, and won't interfere with the light or the staircase as much.
Now I am chugging along to finish the flooring on the 3rd floor; here is the little room's floor in the middle of drying under books before it gets sanded and stained:
I am thinking of using a paper tile printout for the large 3rd floor room, if I can find one that I like...
