Wow I Forgot I Had A Blog!
Now that I know that I do...Ill try to sum up the past year in one post. Here we go...
So about a year ago I put the minis away. My grades were slipping and I had to get my butt in gear because graduation was just months away. After graduation I got my first job at Shoprite for stock in the dairy dept. After 3 months there I quit and then started my first semester of college at Berkeley for interior design. In November I started working at Petsmart. Then in January I actually looked through the new HBS catalog and saw the Creatin' Contest which got me back into minis. After ordering the Adams I built it, primed it, wallpapered it, and began bricking the outside with the egg carton technique.
After changing my idea for this house...major bashing has ensued. It now has a second floor, the brick idea is out (good thing I only got one wall done) and the wallpaper needs to be changed out.
I put that on hold for a while and turned my attention to the Corner Shop by Houseworks that I got for half off from AC Moore because the box was open. I turned a (joint project with grandma) cardboard box ice cream parlor into Irene's Ice Cream. This was the first project I have finished by myself and it is dedicated to my Grandma, Irene, the one who got me into this wonderful hobby.
Before
After
I had so much fun with the Houseworks shop that I ordered 3 more for the April Fools Day Sale at HBS. The Bay window shop is replacing a wooden box I was using and is now Tony's Pizza, dedicated to grandpa (what better to go next to Irene's?)
After
Its not done yet, Im still waiting for an order from HBS and then it will be mostly finished.
I got some pieces of furniture for the Lundby and finally posted pics of the Arrow Bakery I made with grandma when I was much younger.
Only a few new things on the Rutherford front. I primed, sanded, rebuilt and tapewired the whole house. I got a new stair kit and and cut holes for it. I got a few doors and packages of siding and painted some windows.
I also went to AC Moore and asked if I could buy their Display models. I got both an Orchid and a Quickbuild Classic Colonial to rehab for $50.After seeing the ice cream shop, some friends of my grandma were so impressed they gave me a Walmer Old Town for free. So I have these 3 houses to rehab as well as Oma's childhood dollhouse. There is also the Artply Worthington and Artply Franklin still awaiting my attention. So I have plenty to do and unless the willowcrest comes out anytime soon I am not getting any more houses until all these are finished.
Thats pretty much everything that has happened since my last post (over a year ago). If anyone has any questions or comments about anything here shoot me a PM and check out my gallery. I hope to do a better job of maintaining this blog in the future.
Thanks for reading,
~Jeff
