2 Base For platform

abloom

My first plan was to make a platform to raise the bedroom floor up to the height of the gable floor. The gable is 3/4" of an inch higher than the floor, and the plywood I planned to use for the raised floor is 1/8" thick, so I needed a base 5/8" high to set it on. I cut a strip of wood 5/8" wide to place across the front. For the sides and back of the base, I just used scrap wood and craft sticks and glued them to the walls, with the tops 5/8" above the floor. My platform was only going to cover the front half of the floor, but I could just as easily have made it bigger to cover the whole floor of the room. Also, if you are using only one room divider, or none at all, you could make a free-standing platform instead of gluing the sides to the walls. Think of a gift box with sides 5/8" high, turned upside down.
