Living room wallpaper

Silvyr

The living room wallpaper.

I had to cut out the original staircase railing on the living room side, because the wood was an entirely different type and color than the wood on the staircase itself, and they didn't look remotely the same after staining. I carefully cut out the railing by scoring it with my utility knife, then traced it onto balsa wood and (again, carefully) cut it out with my utility knife. It was VERY easy, as balsa wood is so very soft, and once it was stained and had 2 coats of polyurethane, it's a decently close match. Also, while the wood itself is very soft, the polyurethane helped to harden it, easing my concerns over the durability of such a soft wood!
