Welcome to Miss Kit's & Company "An Oasis"---Grand Opening May 25th 1850

Just come on in and set a spell while I tell you the story of Catherine Barrington Rockafeller (AKA Miss Kit). Catherine, the only child of Mr. Arthur Barrington, one of the richest men in the Boston area, has married Michael Rockafellar---a distant cousin to "the" Rockafellars of the East Coast. Michael, who must now keep Catherine in the style she is accustomed, has set off for Coloma, California and the Gold Rush---he is going to "strike it rich". Against Mr. Barrington's wishes, Catherine has decided to join her husband out West. Mr. Barrington can refuse his daughter nothing, so when she asks him to help her establish a little place that will take up her time while waiting for Michael...he takes the next ship East, carrying all that Catherine has asked for....In record time, Miss Kit's is built, offering a "touch of the East Coast"--a classy little--well, actually tiny, establishment where a lovely cocktail and some big city music can be heard. Miss Kit's cousin Maxwell has come to play piano and tend bar. Angelique, or Angel, as she'll be come to be known, will lend her vocal talents....

So come take a peak while things are made ready for the grand opening this very night in 1850!
