corridor paintings

The Peers were due to sit at 3, it was now about 2.30 so we went and had a little look around, looked after by Gillian's assistant Chris, Darren and Chris went for a cigarette break and I wandered round the corridors looking at all the paintings (I bought a book all about the art of Parliament) and apparently the paintings were commissioned in the 1800's and are the work of various artists of that time. At 3.30 we went up the gallery in the House of Lords, we were face spotting again and saw Douglas Hurd, and Nigel Lawson and Ken Livingstone. There is a pecking order in Parliament, whereby some MP's can go in and some can't, other still have to stand only in certain places and others who have special privileges can sit on the steps of the throne. This debate wasn't as lively as the House of Commons but was still interesting to watch and amazing just to be there.
