3/6/06, assembly
The primer was dry so I got the instructions and gathered my pieces so far and began to put them together. This kit is more snap & fit than the others have been, so I read the instructions sections again before assembly and applied glue when appropriate. I used masking tape to clamp the pieces tight whilst the glue set and then I went back with my stapler at the corner tabs; siding will cover this.
Twisting the second floor into the front wall was a tad tricky, but the right wall twisted right onto the floor with minimal aggravation.
The back and left walls coaxed into their slots very nicely.
When I went to prime the porch roof/ front bay top piece it snapped neatly in two. Considering this could have happened at any time with the back & left walls, I didn't use any *magic* words, but I'll admit it annoyed me that the pressure of a brushload of primer could exert that much pressure (I'm a lighthanded painter). It actually worked out OK, It made installation dirt-simple, and then I clamped the break back together until the glue cured. Last I took spackling compound and began to fill the tab slots, and when they were dry I sanded them.
Next will be to make a paper pattern of the upper part of the right wall so I can make a foamboard divider wall for the second floor. I have decided that access to the second floor is by the stairway at the back of the house that doesn't show. Then I'll prime the front bay pieces.
