Scrap Happy!

Yes, I am one lucky miniaturist! My DH gifted me with some great scraps and I am making good use of them. Cut them in half lengthwise and think these are going to work perfect! blogentry-3022-0-59325400-1433169706_thu Also did some work on the scissor steps this weekend. So much time spent on a little stick! LOL! There had to be a hole in the center of each one that would fit a head pin so dug out my tiny hand drill and measured and drilled.blogentry-3022-0-51854800-1433170450_thuI started to put the pieces together when I realized I need to cut the pieces for the steps as they are connected to the sides....(the shoulder bone's connected to the arm bone....)And of course, I have nothing one inch wide so will have to go out to DH shop and dig around. I think a paint stick will work well and I know we have some of those somewhere. So I have a nice little pile of sticks with holes drilled in them! LOL!blogentry-3022-0-30163600-1433170522_thu Since I haven't done that yet, worked on the large wheels some more. You know me, detail, detail, detail! Noticed that there was a faint design on the outer rim and also a gear behind the wheel...never miss an opportunity to glue a gear onto something! LOL! I used a high tech method for the design on the rim...a yellow colored pencil.blogentry-3022-0-58017000-1433171026_thu ;)Unfortunately today's projects include finally doing something with those bananas! Banana bread, here we come! The Captain approves:blogentry-3022-0-02880100-1433170851_thu Just got a call from my SIL saying "Why don't you just put the bananas in the freezer and make the banana bread on a cooler day?" That's all I needed! The bananas are in the freezer! The Captain is going off for a good pout.

Lucky you to figure out how to use that pin drill. I have never been able to successfully use mine without it just unscrewing. Must match it's owner - you know the one with the screws loose (perhaps missing some).

Anyway, what's your trick?

I was noticing that, for all the Captains adventure stories, he really has quite soft gentleman looking hands. Hmmmm??? Is he not telling the whole truth about his history? Perhaps that outfit came from Goodwill and he is an imposter or, worse yet, a spy ...... dum da dum dum dum ....

Great vote on the oven heat for your area but I'd love an excuse to turn on the oven. It's miserably dank and cold where I am even though the weatherman says it's not.

Pin drill? Pin Vise? Can't remember what it's called! LOL! But the drill bit was so small, I had to use a pair of pliers to tighten it in. I just keep an old pen cap on it to keep from bending it. The Captain is very vain about his hands...he uses an old farmer's trick of using bag balm on them. It's been very hot and dry here, but right now we are having a thunder storm..I probably should at least unplug the laptop....
