Finally, assembling Tennyson walls.

Oh boy, I just lost that entire blog post. Oh well, here goes again--

Nothing terribly interesting, alot of prep and dry-fit work, including on the staircase:

Now doesn't this window trim look much improved! :bear: Also I installed interior doors (using the cutouts with basswood trim); this house doesn't have nearly the architectural interest that many of the Greenleaf houses have, so it needs all the interest it can get.

You can see that I went ahead and applied a base coat of paint for the parlor wall pieces. I had planned to use my Olympic interior semi-gloss in "Old Mission Pink" that I had used for my first dollhouse build the Lily several years ago. When I dug out the can, however, it wasn't sealed well at all, and its consistency was that of potluck jello salad! It can be smeared on, but it won't do for the final coat.

Finally after delaying and procrastinating and piddling around with just about everything I could think of, I glued the 1st floor walls, and moved on up from there:

The tabs and slots for this house are not precise at all, so there is alot of "slop" which has already cost me one near-miss and one unfortunate thing. The near-miss was when I was gluing the 2nd floor walls to the 2nd floor; there was a huge gap between the 2nd floor wall with the window panes, and the floor, so I put a long clamp between the 3rd floor and the base which straightened it out pretty well. Meanwhile I was trying to dry-fit the staircase, and the gap between the staircase and the wall just kept increasing no matter how much I shaved and sanded off that side of the staircase that goes against the wall. I kept sanding and shaving off and even dremeling out the stairwell hole in the 2nd floor so that the bannister would be able to make it, until finally it occurred to me that the long clamp was lopsiding the entire house, and once I removed it, the whole house became alot more square and the staircase issue was manageable! :prop:

The one I didn't win, however, was when I glued on the three bay sides; the 1st floor windows are reasonably aligned, but the 2nd floor window trim is not: each trim set is at a slightly different angle. You can kind of see it in one of the photos. <_< There is nothing to be done for it now though except for heavy window draperies!

Had to go to Hobby Lobby and get a power strip and transformer, since I am getting pretty close to that step; used some coupons and hit some good deals at HL and Joann's:

Couldn't find pink toile or cream plush upholstery fabric, which was what I really wanted, but found some nice prints and some jewelry fixtures that'll do for light fixtures.
