Ho-hum, egg carton work...
Well I actually finished the main exterior walls, after many boring hours, and now I've glued the chimneys on and am working on them:
Edit: well I say "finished"-- I mean finished with gluing on the egg carton! It will need alot of painting and washing and sealing and grouting and more sealing before it's truly finished...
The chimneys are coming along a bit faster because I'm basically using the cast-off strips for an effect with thin, long rocks. Shale, maybe. I have decided to finish all the egg-carton installation before I do anything else in this house just because it is so tedious and I want to get it done! (The bricks for my Spring Fling brick house were brutal...! But I stuck it out and I really like how they turned out... Actually I guess I would take bricks over free-form stone because at least with the bricks, I made them up in batches and stuck them all on in rows, whereas with this free-form stone work, I cut each piece individually and attach it, while trying to maintain an overall random look, so actually this is harder...)
Those long vertical insets look weird and I am in the middle of deciding what to do about 'em. At first I thought I'd find my Magic Brik powder leftover from the San Fran and fill 'em in with that, just because it would look interesting, and then I thought I'd glue wood scrap strips in and just fill up the space and egg-carton over it, but now I am back to thinking about the Magic Brik (except I am having trouble finding it )... So we'll see... I think I am going a bit dotty with all this egg-cartoning but I just need to keep chipping away at it and eventually it will get done...!
