Thinking about the Willow.

So the Willow is on order from overstock.com, and I am thinking about it-- Stenty's Willow is a beautifully-done example of this house, and I'm sure I'll be referring to it quite a bit. I looked on a discussion of colonial-style houses at about.com, and an example of Georgian Colonial architecture is shown:

(This photo is from architecture.about.com, and is of a house in New Hampshire.) About.com lists characteristics of Georgian Colonial style: square, symmetrical shape (checkmark for the Willow); paneled front door at center (can do); decorative crown over front door (can do); flattened columns on each side of door (can do); five windows across front (well, in total!); paired chimneys (check); medium pitched roof (depends on your definition of "medium"); minimal roof overhang (fairly minimal, yes). Apparently many of these homes also have 9 or 12 small window panes in each sash, and dentil molding along the eaves.

Frontdoor.com says that the ideal construction was of brick, but moving northward towards New England, brick was less common so wood-frame construcion was used...

Here is the Greenleaf company pic of the Willow (a Corona Concepts house):

The company description says "saltbox", except it is not obvious to me that the roof extends on the backside. I am thinking that with the exception of the front span of five-windows-across (which is something that I could fix, I suppose), the Willow could be a decent Georgian Colonial. Hmmmm...

Well back to BH shingling...

Edit: spelling...
