Vertical roof trim.
The curved pieces for the mansard roof trim were tough! butterflyex recommends installing them before laying shingle templates because they are so tough to hold down, but I think they would've been tough either way because my roof pieces were not quite square-fit... I wanted to lay them after shingles for a neater look anyway...
At some point I gave up trying to get the edges to meet, and just strove to tack them to the roof; I have some big gaps to fill now:
At least I got the effect I wanted for the neat overlay of the shingling. I put some wood glue in the gaps with the hope of solidifying those pieces; hopefully they won't pop off... I'll have to sand everything down and spackle after it sets...
Right now I am sanding window pieces. I have been pondering on whether to stain some of the interior parts; it looks like A&Cconstruction only stained interior trim in the foyers, and angelo only stained some of the interior trim like doors and such. (These are the Beacon Hill builds to which I refer the most for inspiration.) I know stained trim tends to look more elegant, but boy-oh-boy it sure is easier to paint because one can then spackle over all the edges and corners! I like the foyer-only staining decor so I think most of the windows will be white inside and out... I think primer will be too heavy for the window parts so I'll just paint a few coats... I'll have to go back to interior work for a bit and lay some wallpaper before I can start installing window-work anyway...
