Lost Greenleaf: Brimble's Mercantile

Over the years, the variety of kits offered by Greenleaf in its various incarnations has changed, leading to some attractive kits being discontinued (though they sometimes show up on eBay or at yard sales, and a few shops still have some in stock). This week, I want to take a look at Brimble's Mercantile, a two-story, two-room shop with an 1870s-style mansard roof.*Nursemini shows construction photos, followed by a little accident after Mr. Brimble moved in and got settled.*Karin's general store and hat shop isn't complete, but it's clear what accessories she likes. (That creamy white paint color downstairs just charms me.)*Birdwoman painted her general store a splendid Victorian red.*Anneliese painted hers pink and has done an amazing job of stocking the store. The storekeeper's family lives above.*Sclarise inserted an extra two stories and made hers into a furniture store. (That's one way to handle hoarding irresistable furniture.)*Joanne provides not only photos of her finished store, but also vintage labels and advertisements.Personally, I have a secret, unrequited passion for miniature office furniture. If I were ever to build this one ("where would you put it, Calamari?"), I'd be tempted to do it as the old-fashioned Stuyvesant Bank in John T. Marquand's post-war novel, Point of No Return. Rolltop desks... marble-topped counters... a general air of hush and gentility... ceiling fans on the tin ceiling...
