Houseboat: Lower Deck - Wall Treatments
Wall treatments includes gluing the walls in place. I spent a good bit of Mother's Day playing with the boat. The "marble" on the ballroom walls turned out even better than I'd hoped, and the first light fixtures (2 sconces in the ballroom and a picture light in the library) were installed. The wires run down through holes in the deck and will be attached to the tapewire under the boat. Still have to work out lighting in the parlor, and the stern wall (which has the front door in it) won't be attached until the ceiling is put on the lower deck as it does not attach to any lower deck walls.
This is the ballroom/library wall. The wires for the sconces are sandwiched between two layers of wall.
And this is what the ballroom looks like now.
The library is papered and the picture light installed. Its wire goes through the wall and down through a hole in the deck that will be covered by siding. You can see part of the kitchen, which is now painted a light blue, in keeping with the nautical theme -- in this room, anyway!
This photo shows the corner of the kitchen/dining room/parlor. It is two pieces of foam core, which made a raggedy looking corner. I smoothed it with wallboard mud. Turned out pretty well, I think, especially since it will be somewhat hidden behind the stairway.
