Miss Mousy's House
I wanted to make a tiny cottage in which a mouse might live. She is quite feminine, and loves pretty things. I wanted it to be in berry colours, so chose reds and pinks for upstairs and purple and green for the bedroom. She loves to entertain, and insists on using her best china!
I used the architraves (window casing) as windows, cutting an extra window on one end and putting a fireplace at the other. I used one of the front arched doors, but recut the top to make it a symetrical, church door shape. I also drilled a round window in the front where the other arched door should be. I added a lower storey/basement as her bedroom.
I handpainted almost everything inside the house. The only things I didn't handpaint were the fabrics and a plate on the mantlepiece. The pictures are also printed on my home computer, but I painted the frames. I made the armchair in the living room.
I made all the landscaping, including a silver birch tree, a rose vine, shrubs, mushrooms and toadstools, ferns and a garden pond. I also handpainted the watering can on the front step and the squirrel on the front left side. I also finished the exterior almost entirely in paperclay and painted it.
