Oh, Jenny... I'm so sorry to hear that!!!! That is the one thing I've always been afraid of, even more than cancer or anything else, is having a problem with my eyes. I'll be praying for good news.

(((hugs)))

Christine :D

Jenny I'm so sorry that it came back. Please do take care and let us know what the specialists say. I hope that the drops also work and it doesn't get any worse. I'll keep you in me thoughts and prayers and send you HUGS.

Sorry to hear about this. Just not sure why your docs are 'planning' to put you on steroid drops, rather than putting you on steroid drops. Are they waiting until there's permanent damage before they do anything?

so true. ive been very frustrated about this. when I went in around this time last year to figure out what the heck was growing on my eye they put me through hell. first they told me there was nothing they could do, and that they would not remove it until it started growing over the color part of my eye. Otherwise it would be "costmetic" surgery and my insurance doesnt cover that.. lame i know.

As it got larger it was causing me great discomfort and drying out my eye. So the doctor thought if they put a plug in my tear duct my eye would stay moist. well that made it worse. the plug caused me eye to swell and cause even more pain. then the doctors office had the nerve to tell me that they didnt have another appt for me for a whole week. So i called the Kaiser customer service and gave them hell tell they sent me to another doctor and got the stupid plug out of my eye. The next surgen I saw told me it was already to big and that steriods wouldnt help, id just have to wait tell it was big enough to opperate on. SO i did, and got it removed last september. and now its back.

I called me eye doctor early last week with concern about the redness in my eye, i told them about the surgery i had less than a year ago blah blah blah... and they told me i had to see my primary doctor first to get a referal... isnt this a joke?

SO anyways my primary doc confirmed it was another one growing on my eye. So now this thursday i am going to MAKE them give me something. I dont want to go through this pain again. its very frustarting. Im in the process of looking to find maybe an outside eye doctor to get another opinion or more help. Im waiting to see how thursday goes.

anyways thanks again for everyones prayers and kind words. i really do appreciate all your support :D

ya ive had kaiser all my life. my mom has been a nurse there for a looonnng time. So I have free insurance until im 25 or married. Thats why I pushed to get my surgery last year because it was free for me. now im thinking about joining my works blue cross plan so that I can see a specialist instead.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to update you all on what happend today. I went in to see the doctor and she was so worried about what she saw on my eye she called the surgen that operated on my eye and he bumped and appt to see me. It turns out the pterygium is growing UNDER the new membrane tissue that they put on my eye. So today he gave me 3 seperate injections of prednisone in my eye. He gave me numbing medicine but i could feel the needle after the first injection. After those they gave me more chemotherapy on my eye. For the next 2 days I have to use this ontimate on my eye 6 times a day. Then after that for 3 weeks I have to put steriod drops in my eye 4 times a day. After the 3 weeks I will vist the surgen again for my next set of injections and chemotherapy. from what i was told this will happen until it goes away

so anyways thats the news... my eye is killing me so im gonna just go to bed. its easier to keep my eye closed.

thank you again for all your kind wishes and prayers. i really do appreicate it and it means alot to me

night night,

Jenny

Jen, it sounds as if they've chosen an agressive approach. Am praying that this regimen will do the trick. Eyes are nothing to mess around with.

its easier to keep my eye closed.
You can pick up a pack of adhesive eyepatches (that work like bandaids) to cover your eye when you want to be up. DS#1 had amblyopia and it took three years to correct with Rx eyeglasses and patching the stronger eye to strengthen the weaker one. He hated them so much I finally resorted to drawing different goofy eyeballs on the patches with a black fet-tipped pen, so he'd keep the patches on! He would still "lose" his glasses, but after a couple of times we told him that since he didn't have his glasses he couldn't watch TV and if he couldn't see to do his schoolwork he'd spend however many years it took in the same grade to pass without them! (It worked)

Oh gosh, that sounds so painful. I hope you wear really dark sunglasses to help with the eye strain outside. Sounds like you finally have a doctor that cares though. Good luck and hope your next report is that you feel better. (I hope so)

At least it sounds like they have a plan to get rid of it. Maybe this time it will go for good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this will be the case.

I'm so sorry to hear about the pain and suffering you've been going through. I will be sending you positive vibes that you'll come through this as quickly and painlessly as possible. I hope the doctors stay on top of this - you've been through enough already.

hey, Thelma's Mommy, howyaduin, yo?

a friend of mine who needed eye patches had some way cool patches with daisies, day-glo paint colours, paisleys, fabric swatches, and she'd co-ordinate the patch with some outfits. so i'm with HH, it might as well be interesting!!

i sure hope your day went well, under the circs, and that you will have a restful weekend with less and less pain.

sending our Katz and bear hugs,

cj

Well that stinks that you are blind but at least you are getting some much needed care. Better the second time around heh?

I hope you are back on your eyes in no time! Need to see some more E. Row progress..hehehe

I should talk. I havent really touched a dh in awhile. I need to get back on the proverbial horse. Not today though. It is very nice and cool today. Doing laundry and some spring cleaning. I want to get it over with so I dont have to clean while sweating like a pig. Not a pretty sight..

Here is some prayers for a speedy recovery!

Thanks Heidi ;)

I actually got a few hours of dh time in this weekend.. maybe it was the steriods that helped.. LOL but i actually FINALLY figured out what i wanted to do with my paper clay stones! so i did get some painting done  it was actually very comforting and made me forget about my eye pain for a few.. but im def. waiting to do the "smaller detailed" painting until i get my glasses back!
