Peggi
Ok, I've finally got the shingles on the Lily's top roof, was right proud of how they turned out. I picked out a red mahogany stain which turned out darker than I thought it would but it really looked splotchy. Some parts of the shingles just would not take the stain. So I mixed up some paint and painted it. It turn out grayish, not sure but would like opinions should I repaint the shingles in a terra cotta color to better match the porch roof? Or should I just leave well enough alone B) Here are some pixs of what I've done and redone.
LPCullen
Peggi, where the shingles wouldn't take the stain is probably where you got glue on them. Want to know how I know about that? Yep. Done it. I think a Terra Cotta color for the roof would look great!
havanaholly
This is why I stain the sheet of shingles before I ever put'em on the house. There is no teacher like experience, and no matter how well you wipe up the glue with a damp rag, stain will not go on over it.
