This thread is for sign ups to do a Summer 2023 swap. Your items to make will have something to do with summer. Sign up begins now and ends on May 14, 2023. Provided that we have enough people signing up, you will then have three weeks to create and ship your items to me. The items should arrive to me by June 4, 2023.

Jess, once the sign-up date has passed Linda will let everyone who signed up know how many will be doing the swap, and each person makes one item for each of the other members of the swap.  When I used to do the swaps I also made an extra item for me; that way if one of the items (usually the first) had issues, that's the one I'd keep.  Take a picture of your items for the album in the gallery, bag/ wrap up each of your items and wend them and postage to Linda.  Once she has everyone's items (and postage) she'll send them out.  I have recommended that those new to swaps check out the gallery here to see what former swap items were made.

@Medieval please also refer to the Official Swap Rules/Guidelines thread which should be just below this thread. This swap is themed “summer” so you would make items having something to do with summer. I realize it’s still technically Spring at the moment but the items would be shipped closer to summer so people would have them in order to enjoy them for summer. For example, if we were doing a Halloween themed swap we would want people to have the items prior to Halloween to enjoy them for that season. So if we were doing a Halloween swap and you were making say maybe a mummy you would make one for each person participating as well as one for yourself. Does that make a bit more sense?

PS-here in my area summer usually starts at the beginning of May and runs through mid-October-and it gets HOT!!!!

Well, I was able to finish my prototype for the swap. Not that I need it or will be swapping it. I just became curious as to if I could do it and what it would look like. I learned a few shortcuts along the way. I also learned how to better construct it next time I make it. The next time I make it (and I will) I will bring the table up more.  I think it's too close to the benches.

Can we maybe try again? If I’m in are there enough people? I really loved the spring swap and would like to keep these going. It’s difficult to find posts sometimes in the forum which means that there may be people who are interested but just don’t know sign ups are open. I don’t know how we can make the posts more visible 😕

We do Mardi Gras pretty much all along the Gulf Coast from Pensacola westward.  One year we joined some of our FL hiking/ paddling buddies and "did" Mardi Gras from Lafayette to Mamou, LA (took us a week and we were SO stuffed with all that good Cajun food when it was over!).

My first year in NOLA my younger brother (22 then maybe?) came to visit for Mardi Gras. We pinned my address to the inside of his shirt in case he got lost. He showed up the next morning after having met all sorts of fun people and going to a crawfish boil somewhere in the quarter. 🤣 it’s a special place! I was in crewe de vieux back in the day. So fun!
