hubfd
Hello, I'm renovating a beacon hill. I want to 'remove' the wooden panels on the exterior, to look flat. I'm thinking about using Darwi modelling clay to put a layer on the wooden panels. But it will take a lot of clay and it is difficult to get it plain. Do you have any suggestions? I've also tried to do it with spackle, but it didn't work at all.
fov
I'm not sure what you mean by "wooden panels". The clapboard siding on the walls? Or the rectangular panels under the bay windows? (Or something else?) If you're talking about the siding, the best way to do that would be to remove it, but depending on how it's glued that could be a messy process. It would probably require taking everything else off (windows, trim, etc.) and sanding with a power sander. If you're talking about the decorative panels under the bay windows, those should be easy enough to pop off.
hubfd
Hello Yes I am talking about the siding. I didn't know the english word.. 😉 Thank you for the advice. Only it looks very difficult remove... 😅
havanaholly
If you have access to a hand sander perhaps you could sand it down to a point where the spackle or joint compound will cover it.
hubfd
Here is a picture of the process... It turned out better and cleaner then I had thought. A lot of work, but I'm about halfway!
hubfd
I also removed the porch. It will become a balcony instead.
