New member, hi!

Hi all! New member here. I’m getting back into dollhouses after thinking I was too old for them during teens and early twenties and it’s been great! I feel like I’m fulfilling both my childhood dreams of doing whatever I want with a house and my adult dreams of owning a house. I’m currently working on a Duracraft Sweetheart I got for $19 off Craigslist. They had another duracraft house (I can’t remember the name but a larger Victorian house) also for $19 and I’m kicking myself for not getting it as a well. I grew up with handmade, blocky wooden or cardboard dollhouses so this is a huge difference. This kit is so splintery! I’ve really enjoyed seeing what other people are doing with similar layouts or the same kit.

Welcome to the little family, Ana.  If your wood is splintery you will find a clear sanding sealer will help stabilize the wood.  Also stain (use before the sanding sealer) and the primer you will use before painting or wallpapering.  A thin coat of joint compound or spackle sanded smooth when thoroughly dry will also help cover any irregularities in the wood.

Don't fret too much, I'm sure you will find something else......maybe not at $19 but houses pop up all of the time. Have fun with Sweetheart, it is a darling house.
