Graham
how would you adhere pastel chalk to a surface like an interior wall or wallpaper. I am looking to age some wallpaper using pastel dust. General crafting I would just spray coat it but don’t feel this would be the best for an interior doll house that is mostly finished. Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated! Edited December 8, 2020 by Graham Grammatical error
shannonc60
Hi Graham! The chalk dust should stick to wallpaper or painted surfaces well enough on its own without needing a fixative as long as it isn’t being touched all the time. You could mask off areas that you wanted kept clean and spray wherever the chalk is applied with fixative, but would be a lot of work.
havanaholly
Graham, I apply the grated chalk pastels with a soft paint brush or Qtip and very gently rub it in.
Graham
Thanks so much for the help! I kind of figured that would be the answer but I didn’t want to spend hours applying pastel chalk just to have it blow off.
havanaholly
Unless you expose the surface to gale-force winds, it shouldn't "blow off". Edited December 9, 2020 by havanaholly
KathieB
I like to gently rub the powder with a fingertip. I find I have better control than using a swab or a paper stump.
