"Backer" for coach lamp mounted on clapboard?

Recommended Posts

Yes.

You don't have to have a backer

In the tutorial they said they mounted it on the backer so they could remove the top to have access to the light bulb.

I haven't ever made a backer, and have mounted on clapboard siding.

I know these are just choices, but I'm curious as to how others have done it. Thank you!
