I just completed (almost - a few tiny details are still missing) my colorful version of a Hippie House in 1:48 scale.   You may notice my attempt at making a 'Chihuly Ceiling Light Fixture' in the master bedroom thanks to the little tutorial I watched here years ago.

That's a very cute dollhouse Tillie.  Sweet pastel colors.  The style reminds me of the Nevada Cat House I did for the Humane Society's 'Silent Auction' a few years ago.  I'd come across a stur

Hee hee - that isn't actually a 'bong' on the living room coffee table.  I was trying to make a hookah pipe - like the Cheshire cat was smoking in Alice In Wonderland.

What a grand house! I am impressed by the detail you managed to include in such a small scale. As a Chihuly fan, I found the light fixture absolutely adorable.

I seem to recall back in the day that hookahs were very popular for serving the same function as bongs.  Another Chihuly fan here, and I'm also impressed by all the details you've nailed in 1:48!

Hi Holly.  You're probably correct about the hookah pipe.  How silly of me not to know that. I thought it was just for tobacco.  So the Cheshire cat might've been misbehaving?

It's what Cheshire Cats do.  I 1*RMxINpmoeyIKp5tpEs7hfA.jpegdon't recall John Tenniel's Cat smoking hookah, but the Caterpillar surely did!

LOVE the hippy house.  That Chihuly light fixture is wonderful!  The psychedelic prints, the craft room, the bright colors.  All just really add to the ambiance.  I always associated hookahs with opium. I assumed the caterpillar was smoking some kind of drug.  He had the magic mushrooms, after all.  :)

The memories of you gals is admirable.  I'd completely forgotten any reference to magic mushrooms.  Just think how edgy the story actually IS!  And we took our CHILDREN to see this?

I first read the books when I was 8 and the first movie I saw was a black & white version that combined parts of both Wonderland and Looking Glass, and Cary Grant was the Mock Turtle and Gary Cooper was the White Knight ("It's my own invention").

Oh my goodness, this is so cute!  I love the mixtures of colors and patterns!  Every time I look at your pictures, I see something new.

I think my favorite thing is the spinning wheel and loom in the craft room.

Cloudbound:  Your house and all the furnishings and décor are absolutely fabulous - you did a fantastic job on it.  I too, like NellBell, KathieB and Havanaholly,  am a Dale Chihuly fan and your master bedroom ceiling fixture will surely impress him a lot and the fact that  we're all talking about him here on this forum, and that you're immolating his work in 1:48 scale miniatures.

The hookah smoking Caterpillar and Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland stuff is hilarious. LOL

But you know they use it as a bong...

I got to see the ceiling Dale Chihuly had made in a casino hotel in Las Vegas.  It was just so unbelievable. So when I saw the tutorial here (6 or 7 years ago) I just HAD to try it.  Thanks to all of you for appreciating the house.

Holly - Thanks so much for sharing the pictures.  His work is sooooooooooooo fascinating and I look at any and everything that comes on TV or the internet that I am aware of about him.  I watch PBS (Public Television) documentaries, current and re-runs about him over and over again.   I love this piece.  It would look great I  my living room (real life living room)

Tillie, a weekend trip to Columbus, IN, from where you are is so doable, and not only the Chihuly light is there, but the entire town is worth the trip.  Many world famous architects got their start with a program Columbus initiated back in the first half of the last century and there are innovative church and municipal buildings all over town.  The hubs & I did a walking tour when we were there.

Pat, I'm in so much awe of all the wonderful stuff you made in 1:48!  I just got a good look at the stairs and they are awesome.

Chihuly's blue & white glass creation in the picture above would  go great in my living room. The photos attached  are just part of  the room. I have a huge collection of blue and white china and ceramic pieces - I call this (wall unit) the "Great Wall of China". LOL   It is surrounded with larger pieces that sit on the floor plus a table lamp I made from a large vase that use to sit on the floor.  I dream of doing what Pat (Cloudbound) did with her 1:48 miniature Hippie House but in a larger scale cause my vision is very poor. Her house is a miracle  because of for how she worked it in such a small scale. I admire her work.
