minilover62
I know Holly, this is exactly one of the reasons why I sold many of my kids before, I had to stop dreaming of been able to build them all, but there are some that I just can't give up, like this ones that I found around the states (a friend suggested me not to look on places far from home, that I can 't reach, but I can't help it! rodentraiser
Hmmm...that free house is an ACP Victorian house and if I were there, I'd snap that up in a nanosecond. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all those houses you have listed as Duracrafts are Artply Worthingtons. It's very easy to mix them up. Here's a pic of the Duracraft house: And a pic of the Artply Worthington: From the inside you can tell them apart because they're put together differently. The Duracraft house will have posts in the corners where the siding was put in to form walls. The Artply kits were built like the Greenleaf ones - pieces punched out of wood sheets and glued together. From the front, though, the only real clues are the Artply windows. Virtually all of their windows had the cross in them. The second story doorway also comes up to the top level of the windows in the Artply house. In the Duracraft one, it's shorter. And the gable on the roof is much shorter across the front in the Artply houses. The gable on the Duracraft houses are longer and narrower. End of dollhouse lesson for today! fov
The half scale Joseph Angel house is down to $995 and they're calling it a final sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FINAL-SALE-Artisan-Captain-Joseph-Angel-Victorian-Dollhouse-1-2-Scale-OOAK-/391533506950 Wonder what they'll do with it if it doesn't sell. It's certainly a rare house, but I just don't like how this one has been finished. It doesn't present itself as being worth that much.
rodentraiser
I just missed a Joseph Angel house in Portland that was included in a yard sale, of all things! I was browsing through the pictures and saw it, half hidden behind some other stuff. I called the number on the ad, but I haven't heard from them. Doubt if I will. Wondering the same thing when I saw that this morning, I am still kicking myself for not buying the one that was on ebay 2 years ago. I had actually placed a bid on it and then retracted it. If I bought this one I would gutt the interior and redo the exterior or I would dismantle the whole thing and use the pieces as a pattern to cut new ones and built it from scratch. A lot of work either way and a bit crazy to pay that amount of money and then tear it apart but I have no interest in buying finished houses and/or the work of someone else. I've seen this seller do it. When she first dropped the price $100 from the original $1,299 it was a "sale" and then again when it was dropped another $100 to $1,099, but now it's the "final sale". I don't mind the interior so much (altho that kitchen wallpaper...) but I really dislike the exterior and I am not a good rehabber of exteriors. But if it was $150 I go for it. So frugal am I when it comes to having to change a color...

Elsbeth
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/gms/5724054382.html It looks like someone's mom has passed away or has had to downsize: "Mom loved her collection of 24 + doll houses and she especially loved decorating them. We removed all the furniture and miniature accessories and will sell them separately so you can decorate the houses your own way." Honestly, I tend to spend more on furnished houses in cases like this...it can boost the price of houses in not so good shape if they have some good stuff inside. I speak only from experience in bargain-buying finished houses (I love finished houses!). I collect houses that call to me, not necessarily of any historical value (Bliss or Gottschalk houses). I really like collecting complete houses - and often the best ones and the best deals are from estates of people who have passed because they loved the house and never gave it up in life...and it shows. I love how much personality you can see in such houses and I rarely alter them. That said, none of these houses called to me. Maybe if the kids had left her decorations/furnishings in...
