L Swearengin
I was watching "Rehab Addict" (love that show by the way lol) and the house she was working on she painted all white, but she put a green shingles on it. Gave me a thought to paint the shingles on the SF green. Opinions????
havanaholly
Does the SF want green shingles? Go for it. I find a lot of inspiration for the way my houses look from TV, magazines and just passing houses on trips. If the build wants it, I do it.
fov
I love that show! I think I saw the one with the green shingles, too. That could look very pretty. Black or dark gray shingles might look nice, too.
L Swearengin
I am just not feeling the cedar brown, they look cookie cutter.

KathieB
The photos are a bit dark, but I really like that dark, mossy shade of green. Photo hint: if you're shooting toward a window or other light source, modern digital cameras will try to filter out the glare, leaving the main target in shadow or silhouette. Either get between the light source and the subject or add some light.
L Swearengin
Kathie, it's my phone I'm too lazy to get the digital out LOL
KathieB
lol ... you can't get the digital out ... it's a digital camera! You can still be careful of what you're shooting toward to get better photos.
L Swearengin
Believe it or not, that is the John Deere green from the barn. It turned dark because of the cedar shingles. I am going to let it set overnight before I do the whole roof. Might have to add some brown to the green
Stacey6163
That looks great!
havanaholly
I wouldn't add anything to that green, it's lovely!
Dalesq
I love the green shingles! One of my favorite houses is Pickett Hill which has lightly dyed green shingles. I added a few strips of green shingles to Maus Haus for interest, and love the green patinas on copper roofs (also a favorite technique of mine). So YES, do the green shingles. They look great so far
mollymmoore
I LOVE the look of San Franciscans!!!!!! This is the first time I have seen one in white. LOVE! The green on the roof is so beautiful. Just to satisfy my curiosity, did you use white latex house paint?
Debra from Olde Cape Cod
Hey Debora! I am looking to do a verdigris finish on the roof of my Canterbury. I was experimenting on the bay roof in my gallery. Am I on the right track or do you have a better method?
