Kaijuemily
Should I paint the back side of the wood before or after I stain it?
KathieB
Doesn't really matter. If you paint first, be careful not to get any on the side to be stained. Even if you sand it, the spots that get paint won't take stain like the rest of the floor. When you stain, you'll be wiping away the excess, so the wood doesn't really get soaked, which is what lead to warping. (If the issue of warping is what prompted your question.)
DocGreen
A good rule is to always stain first and then paint. You can paint over stain but you can't stain over paint!
havanaholly
I always stain floors first, then slap painter's tape all around the sides when the stain dries and paint the ceilings.
