My first dollhouse...The Arthur

My Arthur house is in the finishing stages, but I still have a way to go. I have learned a great deal on building this one. The next time I will paint pieces as I put it together. Also, I will wallpaper the inside as I proceed in building the house. My big mistake was building it all at once; then trying to paint it. I thought about electrifying this dollhouse, but it still makes me a bit nervous.

I have a few more cottages to build,so I will test my new ways of building and painting on them.

Rita, LED lighting is the new 'thing'. You can do ALOT without wiring your house.

A friend and I are currently working on Arthur's. I got mine at a thrift store (kit) or never would have bought it. I am so glad. What a great house! It is perfect for a small but not too small project.

Rita,I'm anxious to see your Arthur! It's another of my favs and I know Morgan is excited about doing hers,so you guys will have the advantage of sharing current notes on it. Rita,at least you have thought about lights-I won't even let myself go there, yet. But LED lighting does sound pretty good! What other 'cottages' do you have?-I'm nosy/curious...

Rita & Kat~ I have a feeling we're all in the same boat. Not a ship, we can't afford it. The Itty Bitty Budget Boat. Check out a website called 'Model Train Software'. I have nearly memorized it :) I haven't ordered yet but others on the forum say their customer service is great. Their prices, possibly unbeatable. You can make your own lighting, flickering flames, colored lights, etc. All cheap I tell ya :) You can make a flickering flame with their kit for $6 I think it is.

Kat,

I have the Buttercup, the Sugarplum and the mini village...plus the Orchid is my next one to buy.

I do have to finish the Arthur (the Pink Cottage...everything is pink or white in it). The ouside is painted pink with white trim.

OOh,the pink and white sound so lovely! I know the Buttercup-adorable,and I think I remember the Sugarplum-I'll look it up. Besides your mini village,it looks like you'll have a 12:1 scale mini village, too! Love it!

Oh, I love pink and white, but just haven't done a house in those colors yet.

Those are all nice houses. The cottages are my favorites. You're in for lots of fun!

Oh, and if I didn't already welcome your to the forum, Welcome to the Forum!
